Hi there everybody this is your best friend Adam Daily blogging about our practicum Friends in Motion, where we get down with the Pre-schoolers and Kindergarteners!!!In this picture Will Robinson, Olivia Baughan, and Mrs. Bragg are playing boats and bridges with our fellow Kindergartners from Mrs. Webb's class. Boats and Bridges is a yoga game that we play with the pre-schoolers and Kindergarteners. In this game some people make the formation of bridges while the "boats" crawl through the "bridges" while music is playing. When the music stops, the "boats" switch to "bridges" and vice versa. This game really helps the children get physical exercise and interact with their fellow class mates and us middle schoolers. This yoga expeirence really helps the children get closer to eachother and closer to us. It also helps them express their emotions freely and completely.

How Yoga Helps The Preschoolers
This past week, we went to Davidson Cornelius Child Development Center which is a preschool/daycare here in Davidson. I could see the children interacting with us and the other children this past trip. We had a new student this week that was very shy at the beginning. She just watched as the rest of the kids did the yoga and passed every time she got the chance. As the yoga went on we could see her getting more and more comfortable untill she joined in with the group. This shows how just 30 minutes to 45 minutes of yoga can really help children bond and get to know each other.

Friends In Motion Group Teaches Kindergarteners
I am teaching my part of yoga by playing the yoga and social skill game, Everybody Gets a Turn. In this game I give out scarves to some kids and when I am done music begins to play and everybody, even the kids who did not get a scarf get to dance. When the music stops the kids without a scarf will ask politely for a scarf or the kids with a scarf will kindly give their scarf to another person. This a fun and educational way to teach the kids how to share while getting exercise.

Yoga at the Children's House
This week we went to the Children's House at the CSD High School. This was a great experience in which we got to share what we've learned about yoga with pre-schoolers and enrich there learning abilities, and opportunities. I am very excited to see how this opportunity will enhance both mine and their learning. I can't wait to see what else is in store for us in the upcoming weeks.
Sincerely,
JT
